Kitten Care chater four

Chapter Four- behaviour

Cats have many interesting habits and behaviours.

If a kitten wants to be fed, sometimes it will meow loudly to get your attention.

Sometimes if a kitten needs to use the litter tray, it will start scratching at the ground. If this happens you should pick the kitten up and bring it to the litter tray.

When kittens are play-hunting, they may prick up their ears and shake their whole body.

To tell if your kitten is healthy or not, check if its coat and eyes are healthy-looking and bright. If it looks as though it could be ill, you should bring the kitten to a vet.

Kittens sometimes stick their tails straight up to show that they are happy or playing.

If a cat arches its back, it means it is angry or scared.
They may also fluff up their furr to make themselves look bigger and more threatening.

If kittens are...
  • Purring- it means they are happy.
  • Hissing- it means they are angry.
  • Meowing- they want your attention.
  • Coughing/wheezing- they may be feeling ill or they may have a furr ball.
